Car driver takes mishap victim along, dumps him in the fields to die

Khanna, January 28

A car driver, who hit an elderly man, shifted the latter in his car saying that he would take him to a hospital, but later dumped him in the fields to die. The deceased has been identified as Kesar Singh (58), a resident of Libra village, near Khanna.

The car driver has been identified as Rupinder Singh of Fatehgarh Sahib district.

Kesar was returning to his village after duty at Maloud with a bus company. When he alighted from a bus at his village, a car hit him from behind. As the villagers gathered there, Rupinder shifted the injured in his car saying that he was taking him to the Khanna Civil Hospital.

However, Rupinder took the injured to the fields near Saundha village in Fatehgarh Sahib district and dumped him there. Kesar reportedly bled to death.

Meanwhile, Kesar’s family started searching for him. They came to know that a body was lying in the fields , about 25 km from the accident spot. The family members identified the body as that of Kesar and informed the police.

Sadar SHO Baljinder Singh said they had registered a case against Rupinder Singh under section 304-A, 201 and 279 of the IPC and they were conducting raids to nab him.

Meanwhile, Kesar’s body was handed over to members of his family after post-mortem.
