Business hit by ban, plastic trader ends life

Ludhiana, July 20

A 49-year-old plastic trader ended his life by hanging himself from the ceiling fan at his residence in Dharampura here on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Vicky Gaba.

The victim’s kin said he was under depression due to the recent ban by the government on the single-use plastic. Now, his business had almost closed and he was under a huge debt.

Several plastic traders had reached the Civil Hospital mortuary where they expressed anger over the government’s decision to ban the single-use plastic items.
