Building inspector, 25 others booked

The police have booked a building inspector of the Municipal Corporation and around 25 other persons on a complaint about alleged sealing of an office and assault on a manager of the office.

In his complaint, Karnail Singh stated that he was a manager at Parkash Parcel Service Limited, Transport Nagar, and they had rented the office for the past 25 years. He alleged that the MC Building Inspector Harjit Singh, Gurcharan Singh of New Vishal Transport, Rakesh Kumar, Naresh Kumar and others reached the office on February 7. “Harjit Singh stated that he had the order to seal the office. When I asked them to show the orders, they started sealing the office and godown. Their aides, who were standing outside, also thrashed me,” said Karnail in his complaint.

The investigating officer, Ranjit Singh, said no information was given to the SHO concerned before sealing the office. He said a case under sections 323, 341, 506 and 149 of the IPC had been registered against Harjit Singh, Gurcharan Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Naresh Kumar and 20-25 unidentified persons.

Man held for passing obscene comments

A man was arrested for allegedly passing obscene comments and assaulting a minor girl at Sekhewal on Friday. The girl has alleged that the suspect, who lives near her house, pulled her arm and started passing comments about her. When she raised the alarm, he fled the spot. A case under sections 354 and 354 A has been registered against him.
