Ludhiana, September 17

Two bike-borne robbers barged into the Ayush Medical shop in Amardas Colony on the Giaspura road last night. However, they couldn’t succeed in their attempt, thanks to bravery shown by the shopkeeper.

The owner of the shop, Suraj Srivastav, said around 9.30 pm on Wednesday when he was about to close his shop, two bike-borne persons, who were wearing masks, entered the shop. They pointed a gun at him and asked him to hand over them whatever cash and other valuables he had.

“I garnered some courage and hit one of the robbers on the hand with a stick. The man holding the gun fired at me but missed. The robbers then escaped on their motorcycle and I immediately informed the police,” said the shopkeeper.

The police reached the spot and recovered an empty cartridge from the shop.

The neighbouring shopkeepers alleged that when the police reached the spot, they started arguments with the traders.

Amandeep Singh Brar, SHO, said a case under the relevant sections of the IPC had been registered against unknown robbers. Footage of CCTV cameras installed in the nearby areas was being checked to get some clue about the robbers.
