Biggest spike in positive cases

464 contract infection, 12 lose battle against virus as dist reels under Covid

Ludhiana, September 17

Ludhiana district today saw the biggest spike in positive cases so far. As many as 464 persons tested positive today while the last highest spike of 462 was reported on August 21.

In September, the district has seen 5,150 cases so far.

Today, 12 persons lost their lives. They include two teenagers, a 14-year-old boy from Shivala Road and a 17-year-old girl from Urban Estate.

Five deceased were in the age group of 70-78 years. The others were a 66-year-old man from Basant Avenue, a 50-year-old woman from New Subhash Nagar, a 49-year-old man from Vishwakarma Colony, two 56-year-old men from Civil Lines and Dugri.

A maximum of 186 patients were referred from OPDs and 119 from flu corners. The infected persons include 12 healthcare workers, five pregnant women and 17 undertrials.At present, 47 patients are on ventilator support.
