Ludhiana, November 28

A member of the Ludhiana West Grievances Redressal Committee has written to the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Local Bodies Minister Brahm Mohindra and requested them to take the required steps to improve the condition of senior citizen homes in the city.

Committee member Satish Thaman said there was a need to modernise all senior citizen homes with the support of the Local Bodies Department in all 95 wards of the Ludhiana municipal corporation (MC) and other areas under GLADA or the Ludhiana Improvement Trust.

Thaman said all senior citizen homes in the areas under the MC, GLADA, LIT or panchayats should be equipped with the required modern facilities. He said, “Most of the senior citizen homes do not open from 6 am to 8 pm and remain closed and locked, as senior citizens remain indoors due to the Covid pandemic. Cleanliness, sanitation and maintenance of these homes is being ignored these days. I have requested the CM and Local Bodies Minister to take the required steps to modernise all senior citizen homes.”
