Beautification project work fails to start

Members of the Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar Memorial Trust said the beautification project in the area outside the ancestral house of the martyr had not been started at the ground level even two weeks after the MC issued the work order to the contractor concerned.

Work order issued two weeks ago

  • The civic body had issued the work order of the beautification project to the successful contractor to carry out the work outside the ancestral house (birthplace) of Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar at Naughara Mohalla in Ludhiana.
  • The estimated cost of the project is around Rs50 lakh and it will be completed within three months.
  • The work order was issued on December 31, 2021, and the contractor was asked to start the work within seven days after the issuance of the order.

The civic body had issued the work order to the successful contractor to carry out the beautification project outside the ancestral house (birthplace) of Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar at Naughara Mohalla here.

The estimated cost of the project is around Rs 50 lakh and it will be completed within three months.

The work order was issued on December 31, 2021, and the contractor was asked to start the work within seven days after the issuance of the work order. A member of the Trust, Tribhuvan Thapar, said: “We are disappointed as the work could not be started. The contractor, however, had visited the site today and stated that the work would be started in the next two days. The contractor claimed the work could not be started due to bad weather conditions.”

Members of the Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar Memorial Trust said the work to acquire a piece of land for making a direct way to the birthplace of the martyr from Chaura Bazaar has been delayed too.

They said the process must be completed at the earliest.
