Be sensible, don’t throw garbage in the open

Ludhiana is the industrial hub of the state. People from different states come to Ludhiana for earning their livelihood. The migrant labour force lives in vehras that are not the best place when it comes to sanitation facilities. Washroom facilities are poor as those staying in the vehras have to adjust their daily routine around few, ill-maintained washrooms that are neither clean nor hygienic nor in sufficient numbers.

Another issue that is a potential health hazard is the presence of garbage on vacant plots. These vacant plots often become breeding grounds for mosquitoes and pathogens. Some people throw garbage on vacant plots and also on roadsides. In fact, their policy seems to be to clean their houses and throw all trash in public places. Strangely, those who do this are well educated people from the upper crust of society!
