Anganwadi workers protest NEP in Ludhiana

Anganwadi workers today held a protest at Gill Road here against the New Education Policy (NEP). Subhash Rani, president, Anganwadi Workers’ Union, said two members from each circle were called in today’s protest. She added that the workers were agitating against the provisions of the NEP which were against them and should be rolled back. She said there should not be pre-schools in government schools and only Anganwadis should be allowed. The private pre-primary schools should also be converted into Anganwadis to protect their rights, protesters said. The government should develop Anganwadi schools and the workers should be treated at par with government employees in salaries, other perks, they added.
