Administration to hold camps to test industrial workers in region

To screen workers and staff of industrial segment of the region for Covid-19, the administration has launched a comprehensive movement to organise special camps on the premises of various factories.

While inspectors at the Labour Department will be coordinating with Health Department officials for scheduling and organising the camps, subdivision level officers will look after progress of the programme.

Unit and labour colony wise reports for Rapid Antigen Test and Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test will be submitted daily. To make the event a success, quotas have been fixed for each camp.

Ahmedgarh and Malerkotla SDM Vikramjit Singh Panthey said authorities concerned at the Labour Department had been advised to coordinate with in-charges at healthcare centers of their respective areas to ensure availability of required teams of healthcare workers and paraphernalia required for collecting samples during the camps. “Having received instruction from Sangrur Deputy Commissioner Ramvir Singh, we have advised the Assistant Labour Commissioner to ensure that inspectors of his department facilitate coordination among authorities at Civil Hospitals and managements of various industrial units of their respective areas for organising camps for collecting samples of nasopharyngeal swabs,” said Vikramjit Singh Panthey.

Acknowledging that an event was inaugurated during a camp at Shryans Industries Limited, Malikpur, Pardeep Sood, Pharmacy Officer, Community Health Centre, Ahmedgarh, said similar camps would be organised at factories and labour colonies of the region.

Sood said enough paraphernalia has already been procured for organising special camps at factories, labour colonies and slum areas from where samples would be collected. Reports of tests will be sent through text messages on mobile phones.
