Ludhiana, February 17
The Ladhowal police have registsred a case of fraud and cheating against a part-time accountant, Ramesh Verma, under sections 408/420/380 of the IPC for allegedly stealing a cheque and fraudulently withdrawing Rs 25,000 from the bank account of his employer.
In a complaint to the police, Usha Tyagi, managing director of Parshuram Bio Agrotech in Gaunsgarh village, said the suspect worked as an accountant with the firm. She said Ramesh had stolen a cheque (no. 214600) of the firm’s bank account with Punjab National Bank, filled up the amount of Rs 25,000 payable to one Gautmi Prasad, a resident of D-195, Phase V, Focal Point, and got it encashed. The police said investigation was on but no arrest had been made so far. — OC
