98 test positive, two more succumb in Ludhiana

Today 98 persons tested positive for Covid while two lost their lives. A 60-year-old man from Doraha who was admitted to the DMCH and suffering from hypertension and chronic kidney disease lost his life today. Another patient who succumbed to the virus was a 52-year-old man from Model Town. He was admitted to Deep Hospital. He had diabetes, hypertension and a chronic kidney disease.

Those who tested positive today include 36 persons referred from flu corners, 24 from OPDs, 11 contacts of positive persons, three pre-operative cases, a health worker, a pregnant woman, one case of severe acute respiratory Infection and an interstate traveller. Tracing of 20 persons is in progress.

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said today that at present, there were 795 active patients in the district.

He said efforts were being made to keep people safe from Covid-19. A total of 98 new patients from the district have tested positive in the past 24 hours.

The DC said till date, a total of 4,33,048 samples had been taken, of which reports of 4,30,913 had been received. Of these, 4,05,764 samples were found negative while reports of 2,135 samples were pending. He said now, the total number of patients related to Ludhiana was 22,044 while 3,105 patients were related to other districts/states.

He said two patients lost their lives today, taking the death toll to 881.

Till date, 49,432 persons have been kept under home quarantine in the district and at present, the number of such persons is 1,743. Today, 194 persons were sent for home quarantine.
