52 challans for using polythene in Ludhiana

Ludhiana: The Municipal Corporation on Monday carried out a drive against the use of banned polythene carry bags in the city. Chief Sanitary Inspector Ashwani Sahota said the MC teams issued 52 challans against the violations and seized 55 kg of polythene carry bags from different parts of the city. He informed that 30 kg of polythene carry bags were recovered from Field Ganj Kutcha number 16 in Zone A, 10 kg from Jeevan Nagar market in Zone B, 9 kg from Janta Nagar Market, Dana Mandi areas on Gill Road in Zone C and 6 kg from Dugri and Jawahar Nagar markets in Zone D. The banned polythene items are being used openly in the city. The state government had ordered that from April 1, 2016, there would be a complete ban on manufacturing, stocking, distribution, reuse, selling and using polythene (plastic) carry bags and thermocol material that can be used only once. Universities, bars allowed to open

Ludhiana: District Magistrate Varinder Kumar Sharma has ordered that the skill development centres and universities are allowed to open with the condition that their teachers, staff and students have had at least one vaccination shot. Besides, the DM has allowed the opening of bars, pubs and ‘ahatas’ with 50 per cent capacity and the conditions that the waiters and other employees have had at least one vaccination shot and social distancing norms must be maintained on these premises.
