Ludhiana, September 15
Around 50 former Ranji players, including Bhupinder Singh Sr and Rakesh Handa, from various parts of the state gathered today to talk about the scenario of cricket in the state.
They met the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) president and discussed the welfare of all players, strengthening small districts and improving the conditions at the grassroots. Players were unanimous in their view that the state had the potential to produce many more international cricketers if the PCA was willing and earnest in its efforts.
Thereafter, the players aired their grievances regarding the alleged anomalies in the functioning of the PCA, which is the apex cricket body in the state.
They handed over a copy of the official complaint that former Punjab player Rakesh Handa had lodged with the DGP urging him to take an action regarding the allocation of funds to only two district cricket associations frequently.
