5 two-wheelers stolen in Ludhiana; one snatcher arrested

Five two-wheelers were stolen from different parts of the city during the last two days, a shop and a house were burgled while police nabbed a mobile snatcher on a tip-off.

One CD Deluxe motorcycle (PB-10 DM-0184) was stolen from outside a house in Nawan Mohalla in the old city on September 12. One Hero Glamour motorcycle (PB-10 FZ-3669) was stolen from Baba Deep Singh Nagar on Monday. One Honda motorcycle (PB-10 GM-1120) was stolen from Sabzi Mandi in Dhandari Khurd on September 11 and another Hero Splendour motorcycle (PB-10 HD-0592) was stolen from the Tibba Road area on Monday. An Activa scooter (PB-10 GL-2387) was stolen from outside a factory in Shimlapuri. The police have registered cases under Section 379 of the IPC.

The police have arrested a person allegedly involved in looting and snatching and have recovered one snatched mobile phone from him. The snatcher, nabbed from Jassian village on Monday, was identified as Manu Aswal, resident of Guru Nanakpura in Civil Lines. A case under Sections 379 and 411 of the IPC has been registered against him.

Silver bracelet, gold earrings snatched

Three motor cycle-borne robbers, including a woman, snatched a silver bracelet and gold earrings from Kala Wati, resident of Kishore Nagar, in Pathak Nagar locality on Monday.

The victim told the police that she was going back home after buying milk from a dairy on Tajpur Road and when she reached the Pathak Nagar area, the three persons, including a woman, snatched a silver bracelet and gold earrings from her. The police have registered a case under Sections 379-B and 34 of the IPC.

House, shop burgled

Thieves broke into the house of Surjit Singh in Mohalla Azad Nagar and took away two mobile phones when the members of the family were asleep during night.

A shop near Chhoti Puli in Haibowal was burgled in the afternoon when the owner had gone for lunch break. The owner reported to the police that the thieves broke the lock of the glass door of his mobile and money transfer shop and took away Rs 14,000 from the cash box and his bag containing Rs 80,000. The police registered cases under Section 380 of the IPC.
