4 of family booked for assault

The police have booked four members of a family, identified as Sikander Singh, his mother Palwinder Kaur, brother Paramjit Singh and Kuldeep Kaur, all residents of Jainpur village under sections 323/341/506 of the IPC for alleged assault on Amanpreet Kaur, wife of Sikander Singh, and resident of the the same village. According to Amanpreet, she was married to Sikander Singh in 2015 and they have a three-and-a-half-year- old daughter.

She said in her complaint that when she came back after studying for two years in Germany, her husband started tormenting her and the marital discord led to separation, and she went back to her parents in Baranhara village. “On July 6, when I went to my in-laws’ house to take some papers of my daughter, my husband and his family members beat me up and also threatened me with dire consequences,” said the complainant.

Meanwhile, on a complaint lodged by Joginder Sahni, a fruit supplier and resident of Dairy Complex on Tajpur Road, the police have booked three unidentified persons under sections 323/324/452/148/149/427 of the IPC for assault and snatching. The complainant said he had come back home around 8 pm on July 18 after supplying fruit. He parked his pick-up van outside the house and was about to sleep. Around 9 pm, three motorcycle-borne youths broke into my residence and snatched Rs 40,240. after assaulting him. While fleeing the scene, the assailants also damaged the windowpanes of the van.
