4-month-old kidnapped boy rescued from UP

The district police safely rescued a four-month-old child from the clutches of kidnappers from Uttar Pradesh. The boy was kidnapped from the Salem Tabri area by a car-borne couple on November 19.

The child, Ram Lal, was recovered from the house of the accused couple in a jungle area near Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh.

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, Joint CP, City, J Elanchezhian and ADCP, Crime, Jagatpreet Singh addressed a press conference regarding the matter.

The arrested accused couple have been identified as Juhi and her husband Avdesh Kumar, a resident of Kamp Utri Tanda village in Lakhimpur district, Uttar Pradesh.

Bhullar said on November 19, the accused couple had gone to the shanties near grain market in Salem Tabri where they met Rupa Devi. They told Rupa Devi that they wanted to donate clothes to her child and they would bring the same in the evening. Later in the evening, the accused parked their car on the road. Avdesh Kumar entered the shanties and asked Rupa to bring her child near the car and collect the clothes.

The moment Rupa reached near the Alto car along with her child, Juhi snatched the child from Rupa and pushed her away. The couple fled with the child in their car.

The CP said when the police traced the owner of the Alto car, Rizal Pal Singh, resident of Dugri, in which the couple had kidnapped the child, the owner said he had sold the car to Avdesh Kumar, an AC mechanic, who lives in Haibowal, during the lockdown.

“When the police conducted raid on Haibowal, they found that the accused had fled to their native village in Uttar Pradesh along with the child. Then a team, comprising SHO, Salem Tabri, Inspector Davinder Singh, ASI Jinderpal, Constable Gursahibpreet and woman Constable Raj Rani conducted raid in Uttar Pradesh.

The city police team along with the local police of UP conducted raid and nabbed the accused couple and also rescued the child.

The CP said the couple had a daughter but they wanted a son. They hatched a conspiracy to kidnap a male child to satisfy their desire for son.
