A 30-year-old man allegedly died due to drug overdose at Khursaidpura village near Sidhwan Bet. The Sidhwan Bet police registered a culpable homicide case against an unknown person yesterday.

Complainant Surjit Singh of Khursaidpura said his brother, Ranjit Singh, and his wife had died a few years ago. Since then, Ranjit’s son Angrej Singh was living at his house in Khursaidpura.

“When I was heading toward the Jagraon side yesterday, I saw my nephew Angrej lying unconscious on the road. I immediately shifted him to the nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival,” said Singh.

Singh said it seemed that someone gave him drug overdose and the police should take action against the guilty person.

Investigating officer ASI Harpal Singh said on the basis of the complaint, a case of culpable homicide was registered against the unknown person.
