3 snatchers held in Ludhiana

The police have arrested three snatchers and booked another, while a golden chain was snatched from a girl in the city.

The police have arrested two persons, identified as Sandeep Singh, resident of Noorwala Road, and Rahul, resident of Bahadarke Road, who were allegedly involved in several incidents of thefts and snatchings. They were nabbed by a police patrol party from Kakowal Road on a tip-off while they were riding a stolen motorcycle bearing fake number plates. A case under Sections 379 and 473 of the IPC was registered against them.

Another snatcherm identified as Neeraj, resident of Gagandeep Colony, was arrested by the police from near Ganda Nullah, while his accomplice Deepu managed to give the police the slip. Both were booked under Sections 379-B, 473 and 34 of the IPC.

The police said both were involved in incidents of loot and snatchings with the use of motorcycle with fake number plates. One stolen mobile phone was recovered from Neeraj, while efforts are on to apprehend the absconding Deepu.

Meanwhile, a motorcycle-borne miscreant snatched a gold chain from Jyoti Goyal, resident of Kucha No 11, Field Ganj, while she was going on a rickshaw with her aunt.

The police have registered a case under Section 379-B of the IPC.
