3 smugglers held with cash, drugs in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, June 26

The Ludhiana police arrested three smugglers and recovered heroin, ganja and cash from their possession here yesterday.

In the first case, the Moti Nagar police nabbed a smuggler and recovered 250-gram ganja and Rs 12,000 in cash from him.

Investigating Officer ASI Karamjit Singh said they got a tip-off that the suspect was into drug smuggling trade. Accordingly, the police party conducted a raid and arrested him with drugs.

In another case, the Daba police arrested a person, identified as Amit Kumar of Gurmel Nagar, and recovered 15-gram heroin and Rs 97,000 from his possession.

ASI Raj Kumar said they stopped the suspect for checking at a routine naka. During checking, they recovered heroin from his possession.

In yet another case, the PAU police arrested a person, Naresh Kumar of Salem Tabri, and recovered 10-gram heroin from his possession.

ASI Lakhwinder Singh said the suspect was nabbed from the Rajpura chowk while he was on his way to deliver heroin to his clients.

A case under the NDPS Act was registered against the trio.
