Ludhiana, June 1

Three armed men on Wednesday looted cash at gunpoint from a PRTC bus conductor near Ladhowal toll plaza here.

The incident occurred at around 7.50am.

Sahil, the bus conductor, said the bus was on its way from Patiala to Amritsar and when it reached the toll plaza, two men on a motorcycle and another on a scooter brought their two-wheelers parallel to the bus and started hurling abuses at him.

On being confronted, the men pointed two country-made pistols at him. They allegedly thrashed him and snatched Rs 10,000 in cash and his good chain.

The bus driver also got down to intervene but the men threatened to shoot him.

The incident occurred about 2km from the Ladhowal police station.

The men fled towards Phillaur.

The bus was later parked near the toll plaza and its driver and conductor along with the passengers and crew of other buses blocked the Ludhiana-Jalandhar highway.

A huge traffic congestion was witnessed for about an hour.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Harish Behl reached the spot.

Police said the CCTV cameras showed that the conductor was arguing with the three men but the claims of robbery of cash and gold were yet to be established.
