3 peddlers held with heroin, intoxicants in Ludhiana

The anti-narcotics cell here today nabbed a drug peddler and recovered 110 gram of heroin from his possession.

The accused has been identified as Satnam Singh, alias Baba, a resident of Maluwalia Wala, Ferozepur district.

Inspector Rajesh Kumar, in-charge of the anti-narcotics cell, said a tip-off was received that a drug peddler was on his way to deliver a huge quantity of heroin to his clients. Accordingly, the police laid a naka at a strategic point on the Old Jail road where the accused was stopped. Later, during checking, heroin was recovered from the accused.

Inspector Rajesh said during preliminary investigation, it came to the fore that the accused also had a notorious past as a case of drug smuggling was already registered against him at the Dugri police station in the past.

The accused admitted that he had bought heroin from a drug supplier, Manjit Singh, of Kimewala village and he had to deliver the same to his client near the Cheema chowk.

The inspector said the police would seek a remand of the accused so that the entire supply line could be busted and big drug suppliers could be nabbed.

In another drug smuggling case, the Khanna police nabbed two smugglers and recovered 500 intoxicating tablets from them. The accused are identified as Rajinder Kumar of Dashmesh Nagar, Khanna, and Sukhpreet Singh of Gulmohar Nagar. — TNS
