3 held for plying bike-rehra

Ludhiana: The Division No. 4 have arrested three persons for plying 'jugaru' (a modified motor cycle cart) under section 188 of the IPC for violation of the prohibitory orders promulgated by Police Commissioner Rakesh Agrawal. The police said Subhash Kumar, a resident of Sameer Nagar, was arrested from Mali Ganj, Sanjay Kumar of Vishal Colony from Sita Mata Mandir Chowk and Raju Kumar of Noorwala village from near Shiv Mandir adjoining Ganda Naala (open drain). The motorcycle carts of the arrested persons were impounded, said the police. OC

Pick-up driver arrested

Ludhiana: The police have arrested Mantu, a resident of Model Gram, under section 283 of the IPC for causing obstruction on a public street and blocking movement of vehicular traffic. The police said the suspect had parked a pick-up vehicle bearing registration number PB-10GK-0950 in the middle of the road near electricity office in the Daresi area. OC

Six arrested for gambling

Ludhiana: The Division No. 3 police have arrested six persons, identified as Sunil Kumar, Rohit Kumar and Mukul, all residents of Fateh Ganj, Mohni; a resident of Railway Colony, Sovit of Kila Mohalla and Ashu Soni of New Madhopuri who were allegedly gambling in the Balmiki Mandir street. The police have recovered Rs 6,500 from their possession. They have been booked under sections 13/3/67 of the Gambling Act. OC
