3 held for peddling liquor, drugs in Ludhiana

The Ludhiana rural police registered four cases of drug and liquor peddling. The police also seized illicit liquor and drugs from suspects.

In the first incident, the Sidhwan Bet police registered a case against a woman and seized 13 bottles of illicit liquor, 150 litres of lahan, a furnace, cylinder and a drum from her. However, the suspect managed to give a slip to the police.

She has been identified as Manjit Kaur of Parjian Biharipur village.

Investigating officer ASI Tirath Singh said acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted at the house of the suspect. On seeing the police, she fled the spot.

In another case, the CIA wing of the Ludhiana rural nabbed a person, Bhupinder Singh, of Burj Naklia village, near Raikot. Investigating officer ASI Harpreet Singh said Bhupinder owns a clinic in Burj Littan village and he had been selling banned medicines to his clients. Acting on a tip-off, a naka was laid at the strategic spot and he was nabbed. The police seized 500 tablets and a scooter from the suspect.

Two cases of liquor peddling were registered by the Hathur police. In the first case, the police nabbed Jagtar Singh of Manuke village and recovered 12 bottles of liquor from his house. Hakam Singh of Dehraka village was also arrested and 40 litres of lahan was recovered from him. A raid was conducted at his house from where lahan was recovered. A case under the Excise Act has been registered against him.
