Ludhiana: The police have booked three members of a gang of snatchers, who were allegedly involved in looting and snatching at gunpoint in the area, under Sections 392, 34 and 25 of the IPC and Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act. They have been identified as Daman Kumar, Rishi and Jagdeep. Suspecting that the accused were in possession of illicit arms, the police were raiding possible hideouts of the gang members to nab them. Two arrested for drinking in public
Ludhiana: The police have arrested two persons, Kulwinder Singh, a resident of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, and Gurpreet Singh of Phase I, Dugri, for drinking in a car in Phase II market of Dugri on Monday night. The accused have been booked under various sections of the Excise Act. The police have seized 370 ml of whisky from them. In another incident, Baljit Singh of Sahnewal was booked under various sections of the Excise Act while he was standing on a roadside with a plastic bag stuck between his feet. On checking, 12 bottles of countrymade liquor were found in the bag, which were seized. The accused managed to give the police the slip. OC
Two nabbed with 15-kg poppy husk
Ludhiana: The police have arrested two persons, Amandeep Singh and his brother Ranjit Singh, residents of Umrewal in Jalandhar district, while they were carrying 15 kg of poppy husk for selling to their customers. They were apprehended at a police checkpost on Kaind Canal Bridge and were charged under Sections 15, 61and 85 of the NDPS Act. OC
