3 booked for duping farmer of Rs 18.9 lakh

Three persons, including an authorised travel agent, have been booked by the rural police for allegedly duping a farmer of Bassian village in the district of Rs 18.90 lakh on the pretext of sending his son abroad.

The accused were identified as Vaid Bhoop Singh of Gali No. 2, Ahmedgarh, Kushal Deep Singh of Dheer Wali Gali, Mansa, and his father Pritpal Singh.

A case was registered against them at the Raikot Sadar police station. No arrest has been made so far.

Earlier, Jagdev Singh had stated to the police that Vaid Bhoop Singh, one of his old acquaintances, had promised to send his son Gagan Deep Singh abroad and the deal was settled at Rs 20 lakh. The complainant claimed to have paid Rs 18.90 lakh to the accused.

When the accused failed to send his son abroad, the complainant approached the SSP, Ludhiana (Rural), who further marked an inquiry to the DSP, Raikot, Prabhjot Kaur.
