29 vendors held for curfew violation in industrial city

Ludhiana, April 6

In the course of intensive checking to curb violation of curfew and prohibitory orders, the city police have arrested 29 persons in the past 24 hours from parts of the city. Those nabbed by the police were booked under section 188 of the IPC (violation of prohibitory orders) and in some cases, sections 269/270 (cause to spread infection of dangerous disease) were also added.

The police said Shamsher Singh, Bharti and Nand Kishore were nabbed from Shivpuri Road; Umesh Yadav, Dilbagh Singh and Vijay Chaurasia from Salem Tabri Main Road; Harpreet Singh, Sohan Singh, Jarnail Singh and Roshan Khan from Mohalla Peeru Banda; Mohammad Nasir, Jameel, Deepak, Shivji and Bilesh from Shivpuri Puli; Krishna Kumar, Raj Kumar, Suresh Kumar, Ram Kirpal, Shiv Kumar, Manoj Kumar and Sunil Kumar from Gandhi Nagar Market; Ravi Kumar, Yogeshwar Shah, Suresh Kumar Gupta and Madho Ram from Mali Ganj Chowk; Zora Singh, Mohinder Ronier Kumar and Ambodh Kumar from near Vishal Mega Mart store on Chandigarh Road.

A number of pick-up vans, mini-trucks, motorcycles, cycle rehras and push carts used by the culprits for sale or transportation of vegetables and fruits without proper permission from the authorities were also impounded.
