24 more test positive in Ludhiana district

Patients include 13 RPF jawans; boy from Badi Haibowal succumbs to Covid

Twentyfour positive cases were reported in the district in the past 24 hours. A six-year-old boy from Badi Haibowal, who tested positive for Covid-19 and was admitted to the PGI in Chandigarh, died yesterday. A doctor who attended to the patient and the deceased’s parents were quarantined.

The boy, who was suffering from Hepatitis C, was first taken to the Civil Hospital. He was referred to Rajindra Hospital, Patiala. When his health deteriorated, he was referred to the PGIMER, Chandigarh. He tested positive for Covid 19 there. With the boy’s death, the number of Covid victims in Ludhiana district has reached seven.

Of the new patients reported today, 13 are RPF jawans from the Delhi-based battalion. Fortyseven jawans of this battalion have tested positive so far. Meanwhile, two employees of the Railways have tested positive which include a 33-year-old man who got stuck in Delhi due to the lockdown. He returned here on May 13. The other one is 41-year-old loco pilot who returned from Lucknow on May 14.

Further, two Class IV employees at Civil Hospital, a 44-year-old man posted at isolation ward and a 37-year-old woman who was on duty in the Mother and Child Hospital, have also tested positive.

Four persons from Payal also tested positive. They are relatives of an employee, who is part of the chain of infected persons the source of which is a manager of a tyre firm. . A 14-year-old girl and a 19-year-old boy from New Kundanpuri have also tested positive.
