22 government schools in dist get smart tag

It is a proud moment for the district as 22 Government Senior Secondary Schools of Ludhiana have been bestowed upon the “Smart School” tag. The appreciation letters and the smart school tags were given to these schools by the Secretary, Department of School Education, Punjab, Krishan Kumar, recently.

Principal of GSSS, Shahpur, Dr Devinder Singh Chinna, said: “It is certainly a proud moment for the school, teachers, students and the village that the school has been accorded the Smart School tag. Like others, we, too, had put in sincere efforts in getting the tag for the school. The teachers had put in a lot of hard work and villagers extended their cooperation — everything contributed to making the school a smart one. We will continue with our efforts so that the school achieves greater heights in the future,” said Dr Chinna.

The letter sent by the Education Department mentions that by making immense contribution towards education and hard work put in by the teachers, the schools (22 schools) have set an example before others. And their efforts and hard work are appreciated by the department. These schools have become a model for others to follow in their footsteps. And the department appreciates and converts these into “smart schools”.

The institutions which have been converted into smart schools include Government Senior Secondary Schools at Ghudani Kalan, Massewal, Thareeke, Bhaini Baringa, Tahli Sahib, Manewal, Ghaloti, Ayali Khurd, Ghudani Khurd, Dhamait, Machhiwara, Bhundri, Dhandra, Hans Kalan, Rakba, Malaa Kuriya, Sihaura, Shahpur, Samarala Ghuriyan, Dhaddahoor and Siharh.

The Education Department has set a few criteria for getting the smart school status which also includes ambience, hygiene, smart-classes with projectors, discipline, teaching methods etc.
