200 detained for violating curfew norms in Ludhiana

City residetns continue to violate the curfew norms. More than 200 such persons, who violated curfew restrictions, were nabbed by cops at various nakas in the city. These violators have been lodged at four open jails set up by the police.

Yesterday, as many as 60 such violators caught by the police were lodged in open jails. Today, DCP Ashwani Kapur along with other senior cops put up nakas at various strategic points to check curfew violations.

Some were also carrying fake passes, which were seized by the DCP. Pass holders were also warned of registration of an FIR under Section 188, IPC, if they were caught again.

Additional DCP-1 Gurpreet Singh Sikand said 60 curfew violators were nabbed by the Central police division while 30 were arrested by the North police division. “We kept these violators at open jails set up on the Bahadur ke road for more than six hours. Later, they were released only after taking surety bonds. They were also warned of legal action if they repeated the offence,” the DCP-1 added.
