2 more die of Covid, 88 +ve in Ludhiana district

Today, 88 persons tested positive for Covid while two succumbed to the virus. Those who lost their lives included a man and a woman. The number of positive patients from the district has now reached 21,160 while the death toll has risen to 857.

At present, there are 672 active cases in the district.

Today, 12 patients were on ventilator support. Eight persons were sent for home quarantine while 1,232 are active home quarantined in the district.

The 72-year-old man, who succumbed to the virus today, was admitted to the Civil Hospital. He was also suffering from hypertension and diabetes. The other person who died today was a 60-year-old woman from Basti Jodhewal. She was admitted to the DMCH. She was also suffering from diabetes, hypertension and coronary artery disease.

Those who tested positive today include 20 contacts of positive persons, 17 referred from OPDs and 39 referred from flu corners. A policeman, a pregnant woman and a pre-operative case was among those who tested positive today. Tracing of nine persons is on.

“Masks are the only vaccine to curb the second wave of the virus. I appeal to all residents of the district to adhere to all Covid-19 safety guidelines during the festival season, said Civil Surgeon Rajesh Bagga.

“I request all to not to go out of their house without any reason, wear mask properly and wash their hands at regular intervals,” he said.
