Ludhiana, June 29

The Ludhiana Rural police today arrested two persons and recovered two illegal pistols and live cartridges from them.

The suspects have been identified as Charan Kamal Grewal of the Samrala road, Khanna, and Babli Singh, a resident of Patti Dhaliwal, Sangrur.

The police recovered one .32-bore pistol with six live cartridges, a .30-bore pistol with 12 live cartridges and one Royal Enfield Bullet from them. A case under the Arms Act was registered against the suspects.

Deepak Hillory, SSP, Ludhiana Rural, said the suspects brought weapons from some weapon suppliers of Madhya Pradesh.

“The suspects wanted to portray themselves as Khalistan supporters. By doing this, they wanted to take money from Khalistan promoters living abroad,” the SSP said. Further investigation is on into the matter, the SSP said.
