Ludhiana, August 24

Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu and Municipal Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal flagged off 18 vehicles to conduct a sanitisation drive in the city amid the coronavirus pandemic. They said these vehicles would spray sodium hypochlorite, a disinfectant, in the entire city.

Earlier also, when the curfew was imposed, the MC had started the drive, but it was stalled later. The Mayor claimed that it would be the fifth sanitisation drive in the city.

“Around 25 vehicles, including jet machines and fire tenders will be pressed into service to spray disinfectant in the entire city. Besides, we will also request councillors to conduct disinfectant drive in streets with small machines,” the Mayor added.

Many Covid patients have complained that their houses have not been disinfected and nobody from the MC has even contacted them for sanitisation.

“Whenever we get information from the administration about Covid patients or receive a request from their kin, the civic body disinfectants their residences,” the Mayor said.
