12 booked on assault charge in Ludhiana

Ludhiana: The police have booked 12 persons, including four women, for alleged assault on Harjit Kaur (38), a resident of Chimni Road, Shimlapuri, on May 5 and then again on May 20, over some financial dispute. Those booked under sections 323/342/506/427/34 of the IPC include Sukhwinder Singh, Gurwinder Singh, Inderjeet Singh, Amritpal Singh, Gurbachan Singh, Jagpal Singh, Jeewan Lal and Raj Kumar. No arrest has been made so far. OC

Woman, son go missing

Ludhiana: The Haibowal police have registered a case under section 346, IPC, against unknown persons on a complaint of Gaurav Kumar, a resident of Aashiana Colony in Haibowal. He told the police that his wife Vandana (24) and son Mayank (4) were missing since May 21. The complainant said Vandana had gone to the market to purchase some household items but didn't return since. He suspected that his wife and son might have been abducted by someone. OC

Liquor vend employee held

Ludhiana: The police have arrested Sunil Kumar, an employee at a liquor vend on Maharani Jhansi Road, near Ghumar Mandi, under sections 188 and 269 of the IPC. The police said Sunil was selling liquor at the vend without wearing a mask. OC
