11 more succumb, death toll 546 in Ludhiana

Today, 189 people tested positive for Covid and 11 more lost their lives to the virus. The number of positive patients in the district has now reached 12,754 and the death toll 546. The number of patients on ventilator is 32.

Those who died of Covid today belonged to Sahnewal, Khanna, Dugri, Barewal, Bhattian Bet, Baachitar Nagar, Shankar Colony and Urban Estate. They had co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, anaemia and gallstone.

A maximum of 76 positive cases were detected at flu corners, 60 at OPDs and 21 were during contact tracing.

As many as 63 NRIs are in quarantine facility and 274 others were today placed under home quarantine. At present, 4,916 people are under active home quarantine.

Of the positive cases reported in the district so far, 11,351 people have been infected in Ludhiana city. The city accounts for 486 deaths in the district death toll of 546.

In the rural area, maximum deaths have been reported from Khanna (23) followed by Jagraon (13). Payal has reported 10 deaths and Samrala nine deaths. Five persons have succumbed to the pandemic in Raikot.
