104 new cases take Ludhiana district Covid-19 count to 2,050

70-year-old Jagraon resident loses battle to the contagion

A 70-year-old resident of Jagraon, who tested positive for Covid-19, lost his life to the disease today. He was under treatment at the Jagraon Civil Hospital. He was associated with the RSS. According to the Ludhiana Civil Surgeon, the patient was also suffering from a heart ailment. Meanwhile, with 104 Covid cases reported in the Ludhiana district during last 24 hours, the count of positive patients crossed the 2,000 mark.

Efforts on to keep people safe, says DC

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Sharma said the number of Covid patients getting cured in Ludhiana district was increasing with each passing day. Sincere efforts were being made to keep people safe from the virus.

The Health Department received pending reports of 78 Covid patients, including 77 of the Ludhiana district and one from the Tarn Taran district, today. According to information, seven positive cases are from Choti Haibowal, six from Khanna, six from Tajpur Road, four from Jagraon, two from Jamalpur, two from Sham Nagar, two from Raikot, two from Payal, two from Taj Ganj Mohalla, two from Rajguru Nagar, two from Bhamian Road and two from Ram Nagar.

One positive case has been reported from Jugiana, Jammu Colony, New Kartar Nagar, Ishar Nagar, Upkar Nagar, Jandiali, Mahajan Nagar, Model Gram, Gurpal Nagar, Dugri, Moti Nagar, Giaspura, Shimlapuri, GTB Nagar, Preet Vihar, Gousalan, Rajiv Nagar, Rishi Nagar, Macchiwara, Tibba Road, Lohara, Mundian Kalan, Daba, Jain Colony, Guru Amardas Nagar, Aggar Nagar, Abdulapur Basti, Ambedkar Nagar, Focal Point, Aasi Kalan, Uttam Nagar, Sherpur Nagar, Maloud, Salem Tabri, Haibowal, Centra Green on Pakhowal Road, Model Town and Model Town Extension.

Besides, the reports of 36 Covid patients, including 27 from Ludhiana and nine from other districts or states (one each from Fatehgarh Sahib, Moga, Ferozepur and Sangrur districts, two from Barnala district and one each from Maharashtra, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh) were received from private hospitals and laboratories. Out of 27 Covid patients of the Ludhiana district, three are from Basti Jodhewal, three from Dugri, three from Mullanpur, two from Rajguru Nagar, two from Haibowal Kalan, two from Gobind Nagar.

One case each has been reported from Tharike, Jhammat, Kailash Chowk, Rishi Nagar, Madhopuri, Kitchlu Nagar, Payal, Janta Nagar, Hambra, Sector 39, Chandigarh Road, Gandhi Nagar and Jagraon. As many as 25 patients, who tested positive for Covid, are suffering from influenza like illness. Six healthcare workers, including three from the Ludhiana district, one each from Fatehgarh Sahib, Moga and Maharashtra, have tested positive for Covid-19. A 20-year-old pregnant woman from Ishar Nagar also tested positive for the disease.
