10 booked for murder bid

Ludhiana: The Dugri police have registered an attempt-to-murder case against 10 persons. Two of suspects are Amrik Singh and Jaswinder Dhillon, both residents of New BRS Nagar, while the other eight are unknown persons. Amit Arora of Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar told the police that on September 16, he, along with his friend, was heading towards the market on his SUV. The suspects, carrying arms and sharp weapons, cornered him near Jain Mandir at Dev Nagar. He said the suspects demanded Rs30 lakh from him as protection money. TNS

Phone snatched near temple

Ludhiana: Two bike-borne persons snatched a mobile phone from a man near the Sita Mata temple. Harminder Lal of Abdulalur Basti told the police that on September 15, he was going to Daresi to pay obeisance at the temple. When he was about to reach the temple, two bike-borne persons cornered him and snatched his mobile phone. The police have registered a case against suspects. TNS
