Some young trekkers find a dead body on the outskirts of Mumbai. The young woman is Pooja (Barkha Singh) who is murdered and her father played by Shishir Sharma is a retired judge, who wants to find the killer. So, the Commissioner of Police (Denzil Smith) unwillingly assigns the case to ACP Avinash Verma (Manoj Bajpayee). It’s a tricky case and Avinash has taken it on himself to solve it. Now, that’s pretty much the story. Through a series of flashbacks, the film tells you what all happened till the time of death.

Meanwhile, ACP Avinash readies a team that includes Prachi Desai, Sahil Vaidya and Vaquar Sheikh. Forensic reports, call records, timeline drawings, medical details and what not but even then, they miss out on some obvious things. These aren’t the only potholes in the story. As the trio assists their boss in nabbing the murderer, we find out that Avinash is divorced, wears these cool tee-shirts picked up by his daughter, his mother calls him Chintu and reminds him to eat his meals.

Coming back to the murder, meet Ravi Khanna played by Arjun Mathur. He is an MLA who wears Nehru jackets, has a villa that is open to all. People go there, sleep, get murdered and even disappear. His wife is in coma and he wants to acquire a park to convert it into a mall. Ravi is a loud-mouthed politician and all fingers point at him but no, he is not the murderer and you will discover it at the end of the movie.

The details of the murder make you retch. And watching the police uncover the case (for over two hours, just too long) becomes an ordeal on more than one occasion. It is Manoj Bajpayee who pulls out all the stops to keep Silence…can you hear it?, streaming on Zee5, engaging and that deserves applause.
