Art is young architect Karan Bajwa’s passion. He has come up with a solo show, titled Black Vibgyor, which showcases paintings and sculptures.

“I got interested in sketching when I was 13. My mother once hired an artist to sketch my father – a Kargil martyr - Major BS Bajwa, Sena Medal (Gallantry). I felt the artist couldn’t do justice to my father’s image and decided to sketch myself,” says Karan, who was 13 at that time. While he is yet to make a portrait that justifies his father’s memory, he has continued dabbling with different forms of art along with academics. “I finished my architecture degree in 2019. And since last year I have put myself wholly and solely into art.”

The 53 paintings around the theme took him about a year to put together. “For me black is the mother colour and the rest seven her children. Just like a mother enhances her child’s abilities, I feel black makes other colours stand bright, hence Black Vibgyor is the theme.” The exhibition would be inaugurated by Dr Surjit Patar, chairman, Punjab Art Council today. —
