Show comments

While many producers are taking the OTT route and have recently announced the release of their big-budget movies on digital media, there are some filmmakers who are waiting for cinema halls to re-open! Here’s a list of upcoming movies lined up for a theatrical release.

Action zone
Sooryavanshi

Reliance Entertainment has announced that Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi will release in cinema halls on Diwali this year. The film is supposed to be a crossover between Singham, Simmba and Sooryavanshi — three of Shetty’s cops. With Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, and Ranveer Singh in the same frame, the film sure promises loads of action.

Comic lanes
Coolie No 1

A comedy directed by David Dhawan, this Varun Dhawan-Sara Ali Khan-starrer is a remake of a 1995 classic by the same name. Interestingly, the first Coolie No 1, which starred Govinda, completed 25 years on June 30, 2020. About the release of its sequel, David Dhawan said the film would not take the OTT route.

Being patient
83

In another interesting announcement, Reliance Entertainment Group CEO Shibashish Sarkar said Ranveer Singh’s 83 would be releasing on Christmas this year. He said, “We are committed to bringing 83 in theatres whenever the exhibitors are open and the audiences feel safe returning to cinemas.” The film was originally slated for an April 2020 release.

Look wise
Laal Singh Chadha

Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chadha is an adaptation of the American classic Forrest Gump. Aamir, known for his near-perfect performances, has already created huge expectations with his ‘look’ in the film. The film has been directed by Advait Chawhan, who previously made Secret Superstar. The movie will also be released in theatres only.

Fantasy world
Brahmastra

Brahmastra is a fantasy film starring Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in key roles. The film is said to be one of the most ambitious projects in Bollywood. It is being directed by Ayaan Mukherjee and produced by Karan Johar. The film has already undergone multiple delays and would now only be released in theatres.

Surprise package
Radhe

Salman Khan’s upcoming film, Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai is one of the most-awaited movies this year.

The movie, which was supposed to release on Eid, was postponed due to the lockdown. The makers are now aiming for a Diwali release.
