How does it feel returning to Zee TV after Tujhse Hai Raabta?

Working with Zee TV has always been an amazing experience and I am thrilled to return for yet another project with them. Tujhse Hai Raabta was an amazing and satisfying journey, and I really look forward to the same with Meet.

Tell us more about this show…

It is a well-conceptualised show that empowers women and breaks the age-old stereotype of gender roles in the professional space. It follows an exciting story of a Haryanvi girl, who will make us question the roles set for the daughter of the house.

How is this show different from other family dramas?

The show brings forth a very strong narrative and if you ask me, I truly believe that we require stories that are capable of changing society’s perception, where only a son can be the breadwinner of the family.

Both male and female characters in this show are called Meet. What’s your role like?

I am portraying the character of male lead, Meet, who believes that women should look a certain way and it’s a man’s responsibility to earn for the household. A boy just as principled as his father, Meet wants to work his way up in the world, but also has his ways of enjoying life.

What convinced you to essay Meet’s role?

Honestly, it wasn’t only one thing that made me choose this role. The storyline, the channel, the production house, and everything else together convinced me to take up this character.

Did you have to learn Haryanvi for this character?

For me, learning the character’s language is the first step because that depicts the cultural background. I had to learn the Haryanvi accent a little and also pick up a few words commonly used by them.

What are your thoughts on traditional gender roles set by society?

Right since childhood, I was taught not to imbibe any discriminatory stereotypes. It is just the mindset that needs to evolve, and we need to step away from backward thoughts.

Tell us about your bond with your co-star Ashi Singh?

Honestly, we hit it off right from the moment we met, and I must say that Ashi and I are really good friends now. From day one of the shoot till now, she has been fun to work with. This is the first time we are working together, and she has made me really comfortable since the moment we met.
