Show comments

Gaurav Khanna's entry as Anuj in Anupamaa came as a big relief to the audience. He talks about his character and more.

The audience instantly fell in love with your character. How does it feel?

A big thank you to them! It’s a really heart-warming and humble experience to make a space for oneself in an already famous ensemble cast. I have been around in the television industry for so many years and I understand that getting love from the audience immediately is not always an easy process, so I am feeling very lucky.

What made you say yes to the character?

When I heard the character of Anuj, I felt that there were many similarities between the character and me as a person. So, I got interested.

How much do you relate to Anuj?

All the characters that I have done so far, they all have some part of Gaurav in them. I always imagine if Gaurav is put into a situation like this then how would he react and then I make sure that the character is perfectly engulfed with the personality of the actor.

The show has quashed many age-old beliefs. Your Comment.

The show has quashed many age-old beliefs and that’s why it is such a popular show. It’s high time that television came out of its regular pattern and delivered something new to the viewers. That’s why Anupamaa came as a pleasant surprise.

Tell us about your bond with your co-stars.

My maximum scenes are with either Rupali or Deepak (Gheewala) ji. I have very good bonding with both of them because I feel if the bonding is strong off screen it transcends on screen as well. And the character of Anuj is such a lovely and receptive character that he imbibes all the qualities of all the actors that he is working with in a scene.

You always wanted to work with Rajan Shahi. How is the working experience?

I always had a list of people with whom I wanted to work in the industry and Rajan has been on the top of that list. I am lucky that I finally got a chance to work with him and that too on such a good show and such a brilliant character like Anuj. The way he takes his characters forward is amazing.
