Anjali Tatrari is back with her second show Sargam Ki Sadhe Satii

Did you always want to be an actor?

I was doing my CA course, but I was not enjoying it. Then I realised I was made for something else. Initially when I was going for auditions I was not even aware how to give my side profile. With every audition I grew.

Your first show Mere Dad Ki Dulhan was a big hit. What did you learn from the success?

When I decided to take up the TV show I knew what I wanted. I didn’t want to do a regressive show. Content is very important to me. The success of this show reaffirmed my faith in that. People are remembering me for my good performance, what else I could have asked for.

The fan pages of Mere Dad Ki Dulhan are still active. Any regrets on the show going off air?

I definitely believe in quality over quantity. It was a finite series, so it had to go off air. It’s better to end when the quality is still high.

Two shows back-to-back on Sony Entertainment Television. How does it feel?

Before I could finish Mere Dad Ki Dulhan, I was attending the workshop for Sargam Ki Sadhe Satii. There were few other TV and webseries offers but, this show is special. The character of Sargam is opposite to Niya’s.

How do you approach your character?

I never take things for granted because I don’t have any backup. Acting makes me happy and I am very loyal to this profession.

For Sargam what was the new thing that you had to learn?

The voice tonality. She has a different way of speaking. Then she also has a signature dialogue in the show.

You have got a great support system in actor Varun Badola. What do you have to say about it?

He is a great man and there is so much to learn from him. He is a great actor, singer and writer. He has been giving me constant support and is a great mentor.

What is the importance of social media to you?

It is not that important for me. Once I had gone for an audition where I was asked how many followers I have. I was surprised - how can my social media followers decide my fate as an actor? However, I try to be active for my fans.

What is your unwinding process?

I am a pampered child. My mother still puts me to sleep. A hug from her and a pat on my back unwinds me fully. My nani too pampers me a lot. I am the only child in the family, so I get all the love from them.
