My mother had a salon in Amritsar and she would ask me to learn the basics of hair styling, and then continue only if I wanted to. During the initial days of my training, I would be just looking out of the window and wondering when I would go home. But gradually I got interested in the craft. I learnt different styles, haircuts and colouring options. This is how I started.
I have done over a thousand songs in Punjab since 2015. My first Bollywood project was with Jacqueline Fernandez for her film Mrs. Serial Killer. I have also been a part of other projects of hers, like Genda Phool. Then, I worked with Nupur Sanon on a few events as well as her music video Filhaal.
As a hair stylist, I love experimenting with hair. I love being on the sets. The energy is just palpable. It really motivates me to give my best.
There are so many talented hairstylists in the industry. I have learnt a lot from people like Amit Thakur, Florian Hurel and Shaanmu, and I cannot really compete with any of them.
I was asked to do three different hairdos for Jacqueline in Genda Phool. The character was a Bengali woman. So, I took help from my Bengali friends. High pony, wavy, and straight long hair were a few of the looks we had decided on. Jacqueline was nervous initially but once the cameras started rolling, we were all confident.
It’s all about how you read the face. But it’s not like you have decided to do only one single hairstyle on a person, you can change it anytime.
When I was working in Punjab, at that time, my dream was to work with Jacqueline Fernandez and now I am working with her. It’s a dream come true for me.
I want to work with Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Kriti Sanon, and Priyanka Chopra, to name a few.
