Leopard found dead in Nurpur village well

NURPUR, JANUARY 20

A leopard, aging between 3 and 4 years, was found dead in a well at Jular village in Rey beat (Fatehpur) here on Monday.

The local residents spotted the leopard’s body and fished it out from the well. The panchayat informed Forest Department officials and a case was registered in this regard.

According to Basu Kaushal, Divisional Forest Officer, Nurpur, no foul play was suspected in the death of the leopard. The officer said a veterinary doctor had conducted the post-mortem examination of the leopard and the cause of death was drowning.

Its last rites would be performed on Tuesday under the supervision of government officials and local residents.
