Jammu, January 20

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi today interacted with students preparing for the upcoming board exams on “Pariksha Pe Charcha 2020” annual event at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi, Karishma Raina, a Class XI student of Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS), Nowabad (Jammu) stole the limelight when she got the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to not only have an interaction with the PM, but also ask him a question on exam preparations.

The Jammu girl’s question to the Prime Minister was on how to maintain a balance between expectations of parents and teachers during the examination period. “Next year, I am going to appear in the Class XII board examination and how it is possible to tackle examination stress and to live up to the expectations of both parents as well as teachers,” a smiling Karishma asked PM Modi.

As the Prime Minister started replying to Karishma’s question, there was a pindrop silence at the Teachers Bhawan Auditorium wherein arrangements were being made by the Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) for the live telecast of “Pariksha Pe Charcha 2020” annual event. Students from different schools of Jammu, along with their teachers, assembled at the venue to watch the live telecast.

It was a proud moment not only for the family of Karishma Raina and GGHSS Nowabad as daughter of the soil had represented the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in the “Pariksha Pe Charcha 2020” annual event with the Prime Minister.

“Everybody in the family is very happy as our daughter got the golden opportunity to interact with the PM,” Veena Raina, mother of Karishma Raina, told The Tribune. “I am really speechless at what I am experiencing today. My heartiest congratulations to Karishma for making whole J&K proud of her achievement,” said Sneha Raina, elder sister of Karishma. Principal of the school, Poonam Langeh, was all praise for Karishma.

“It is indeed a moment of pride for everyone in the whole school. We are all waiting eagerly for the return of Karishma from New Delhi,” the Principal said. “Last night, I received a call from New Delhi that Karishma has qualified the test conducted and will put a question to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 20,” she added.

Meanwhile, Stanzin Norboo, a student from the newly created Union Territory of Ladakh after the bifurcation of the erstwhile state of J&K after abrogation of Article 370, also interacted with the PM.

Seven students from the Jammu division were selected to visit New Delhi for “Pariksha Pe Charcha 2020” annual event at Talkatora Stadium. Of the seven students, six were from government schools and one from private school. The students were Manya Pandoh (GGHSS, Mubarak Mandi Jammu), Lakshya Langeh (Government SRML School), Karishma Raina (Government Girls HSS Nowabad, Jammu), Avni Pandita (Government Girls HSS Nowabad, Jammu), Kanika Sharma (Government HSS Jourian), Tushrika (Government Girls Model Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi) and Sanchita (Presentation Convent Senior Secondary School, Jammu).

A total 4,569 students from different schools in the Jammu division were registered for the event. Around 86 facilitation centres were established across the Jammu province by the school education directorate.
