The three-day Swami Vivekanand Kabaddi Championship was inaugurated in Shimla on Sunday as part of the activities being undertaken during "youth fortnight" from January 12 to 23. The championship is being organised by the ABVP and the winner will be awarded a cash price of Rs 15,000 and a trophy. The best raider and defender would also be given trophies. Sachin, convener of the Shimla unit of the ABVP, said Swami Vivekanand always laid stress on sports. "Youngsters should work like a football and kabaddi team for building a strong nation. 360 take part in hobby classes
Hobby classes in creative writing, mime, calligraphy, filmmaking, acting, classical dance, contemporary dance and painting concluded at Gaiety Theatre, Shimla, on Sunday. The event was organised by the Language and Culture Department and the Gaiety Dramatic Society. Over 360 students participated in the activities held from December 20 to January 19. The creative work of the participants was displayed at Tavern Hall of Gaiety Theatre at an exhibition inaugurated by Vikas Sood, Joint Secretary, Language and Culture. Parents appreciated the efforts and said besides honing skills, the event helped the students utilise their vacations productively.
Students get career guidance
IC3 Career Guidance Programme was organised by Montessorie Cambridge School, Raja Ka Bagh, Nurpur, on Sunday in which Indian and foreign universities were invited to guide students on how to choose the right career. McMaster University, Istituto Marangoni University, Ashoka University, Plaksha University and Miami University participated in the programme. They imparted important knowledge and information to children regarding their career.
