Chandigarh, October 30

The state government under the flagship programme ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar’ is all set to launch a Punjab Job Helpline. The Department of Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training will run a call centre to help youth of the state look for jobs. Queries of job aspirants will be answered in both Punjabi and English.

Employment Generation Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said the 25-seat call centre would be established and would be open from Monday to Saturday and from 9 am to 5 pm.

The minister said the call centre staff would help the job aspirants to register on pgrkam.com and update their profile. This would enable them to access available vacancies across the country.

Besides, they would be apprised of available government schemes for skill development, self employment loans, etc. The job seekers would also be able to get information about various initiatives and services being run by the department, Channi added.

Rahul Tewari, Secretary, Employment Generation, said the department was already providing these services via a web portal www.pgrkam.com and was now in the process of developing a mobile app. In addition to this, the helpline would ensure that the candidates who did not have access to technology would be able to directly speak to a call operator and avail themselves of the services.
