Panipat, January 20

The Chief Engineer of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam suspended two officials — a junior engineer (JE) of Israna and a foreman at Madlauda — reportedly for not reducing the line loss under ‘Mhara Gaon-Jagmag Gaon’ scheme. He also issued show-cause notices to SDOs of Madlauda and Israna subdivisions.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had launched the scheme ‘Mhara Gaon-Jagmag Gaon’ in 2015 from Kurukshetra to reduce line losses up to 20 per cent in villages by replacing defective meters and shifting them outside of the consumers’ houses and replacing faulty wires. Electricity is being supplied to 191 villages in Panipat circle through 81 feeders. The work on 30 feeders has been completed while that on 28 others is underway as part of the scheme.

VS Mann, Rohtak Chief Engineer, visited Panipat recently to review the line losses of the feeders. Mann said he had reviewed 22 feeders completed around an year ago. The report of 20 feeders was found satisfactory, as the losses had come down gradually, but that of two feeders, in Israna and Madlauda subdivisions, were not up to the mark, he maintained.

It seemed that no work had been done to reduce the losses by the JE of Israna subdivision, Ishwar Singh, and foreman of Madlauda subdivision, Satbeer. So both of them were suspended with immediate effect, he said. Besides, it was the responsibility of the SDOs concerned too, hence show cause notices were served to Israna and Madlauda SDOs for negligence, Mann added.
