Students to get tips at Spark career fair

Preparations have begun for the Spark career counselling fair in the city as the district administration today held a meeting to finalise various arrangements. The event is to be held at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium on December 19 and 20.

Chairing a meeting here at the District Administrative Complex, Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Varinder Kumar Sharma today said more than 30,000 students would attend the mega fest, in which experts from various fields give career-related guidance to the students.

The DC said a marathon to mark the event would be held on December 18 which would be followed by two days brainstorming session on career guidance, along with cultural events, on December 19 and 20.

The Deputy Commissioner said through this fair the administration aimed at ensuring that students were made aware about the career which could be chosen by them for opening new vistas of life.

Sharma envisioned that the ‘mela’ would give right direction to the students by guiding them for best option after matriculation and plus two. The administration would rope in key experts from several fields to address the students for giving career-related guidance to them..

The DC said stalls would be installed by the educational institutions, who would advise the students regarding career opportunities available for them. Exhorting the students to participate in the ‘mela’ in huge number, he said they must avail the benefits of this opportunity to carve a niche for themselves in future life.

Additional Deputy Commissioners Kulwant Singh and Jasbir Singh, Sub-Divisional Magistrates Rahul Sindhu, Sanjeev Sharma and Dr Jai Inder Singh, Secretary, RTA, Dr Nayan Jassal, Assistant Commissioner Dr Shayari Malhotra were also present on the occasion.
